Many people want to give themselves tattoos. It's safer and you can expect better results if you have a tattoo artist give you a tat, but if you are going to do it yourself, make sure you are using a safe ink. Professional tattoo inks are your best bet. Do not use regular ink pens as the souce of your tattoo ink. While the ink make be labelled as 'non-toxic' that means you won't die if you drink the ink, not that it is good for you or something you want in your bloodstream. The pigments and solvents in pen ink may cause reactions when introduced into the skin, plus the pigments may not be stable. Basically, this means the tattoo you create may not be the tattoo you'll see a month from now or a year from now. There are safer inks which can be made from natural materials:
