Bleeding Knife Chemistry Trick

Make a knife appear to bleed. (Getty Images)Yes, I know it probably seems hotter than the surface of the sun outside and you may think summer will never end. In spite of this (or possibly because of it), I'm looking ahead to Halloween. Halloween probably is my favorite holiday. It's not just the candy and the costumes. I love the spooky effects! Many of these effects are accomplished with a little help from chemistry. For example, there's the bleeding knife trick. You take a dull knife, treat it with a chemical and cause it to "bleed" pretty much on command. Usually this trick is performed where you appear to cut your skin and make it bleed, but I'm sure you can think of other neat uses for a bleeding blade... Try it
