August 13th is Frederick Sanger's birthday. Sanger is an English biochemist who is one of the four people to be awarded two Nobel Prizes. He won the 1958 Chemistry Prize for determining the sequence of amino acids that make up insulin and determining its structure. He shared half the 1980 Chemistry Prize with Walter Gilbert for their research into determining the base sequences of nucleic acids.

The other three double Nobel Prize winners were Marie Curie (1903 Physics and 1911 Chemistry), Linus Pauling (1954 Chemistry and 1962 Peace), and John Bardeen (1956 Physics and 1972 Physics).
